What is in a name?

In our discussions with Doberman, we were discussing the short name of the conference. Last year the name Nordic SDC emerged, but we feel that this shortened name emphasises the Nordic aspect (after all, the Nordic is to be taken as a pointer to where it is held rather than who should visit) over the Service Design aspect. This is fine and well for those already in service design, but as we would love to be able to attract those new to service design as well we where pondering to try to change the short name format to further emphasize the service design component.

Now we want to ask you, our visitors on your thoughts on the topic; How would you feel about a change to the short name of the conference? Which short name would you suggest in case we want to emphasize the service component further? Answer here on the blog, or on twitter through the #NordicSDC hashtag.

Looking forward to your comments!

Things are moving forward

It's been quiet here for a few weeks now, but in the background a lot of exciting things have been happening.

- Earlier this week we visited the potential venues here, and found one which we do think provides excellent potential for hosting our conference. It's more or less dow to the paperwork before we can announce the exact date and venue for the conference.

- We have ventured further into the format for the conference, and we have found an interesting format which breaks away somewhat from earlier conferences in the field. We look forward to sharing it with you and get your help in sharpening it when we have been able to confirm the dates and times for the scheduele.

- Finally we are thrilled to announce that the digital service design agency Doberman has agreed to help the conference with our digital channels. We have had a interesting session planning the digital aspects of the conference today. Members of Doberman staff will also help us keep an practioner-eye on the planning of the conference.

Preliminary week for conference

In the latest planning meeting we took a few decision which we would like to share with you. First and foremost, a preliminary week for the conference has been set with help from your feedback: Week 48 (November 29 - December 3) is the week we aim at. We will now go on to decide a venue, and decide the exact date based on availability. We have three or four venue options we want to investigate.

Furthermore, the conference theme is more or less decided, only the final tweaks remain. We plan to announce this together with the Call for papers towards the end of February. The deadline for paper submissions is not yet decided, but as said earlier it will most likely be in late May or early June.
